Even though the effect of the second wave of corona in UP is gradually decreasing, but the game of selling poisonous liquor continues in the rural areas of the state. Fifteen days ago, in Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh and Badaun, more than 28 people were killed by spurious liquor. On Friday, there have been 28 deaths due to poisonous alcohol in Aligarh. More than a dozen victims are being treated in hospitals. Talking about the first five months of this year, from January to May 28, about 100 people have died of spurious liquor in 11 districts of the state.
With whose collusion is the business flourishing?
The incident may be of Pratapgarh district or Azamgarh, Mahoba or Aligarh. As usual, by suspending the police and excise officials at the local level, the government and administration fulfill their duty. Every time an inquiry is set up, but what is the result of the investigation? It is kept confidential. Till now, the top officers of the responsible departments have not made any effort to know after any incident from where the poisonous liquor comes in the villages. Questions are being raised whether this business is flourishing with the connivance of the Excise and the local police? Do the Excise and Police Department really have no idea about the raw liquor kilns running in the villages? If not, how do their enforcement teams get there during the operation?

Opposition's allegations
State President of Aam Aadmi Party, Sabhajit Singh alleged that officers from top to bottom are involved in this black business of spurious liquor, but the action is always on the lower ones. He said that the government should get these cases seriously investigated and the investigation report should be made public. On the other hand, Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu expressed grief over the deaths caused by drinking spurious liquor in Aligarh. He put the state government in the dock. The UP Congress President said that the deaths in Aligarh could have been prevented if the government and its officers had been sensitive about the deaths due to poisonous liquor in the past and strict action had been taken against the illegal liquor traders.
