The Center has put on hold the allocation of anti-viral drug Remdesivir to the states after the supply exceeded the demand. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave this information on Saturday. Mandaviya tweeted, “There is now sufficient quantity of Remdesivir available in the country as the supply is much more than the demand. Therefore, we have decided to stop the central allocation of remadecevir to the states.
The Minister of State for Fertilizers and Chemicals also mentioned that there has been a significant improvement in the supply of this drug used in the treatment of Kovid-19, where as on April 11, there was a supply of 33,000 vials of Remdesivir, now it is 10 times. This has increased to 3,50,000 vials per day.

He said the government increased the number of units manufacturing remdesivir from 20 to 60 within a month. Mandaviya also said that the government has also decided to purchase 50 lakh vials of Remdesivir as an emergency stock.
