Villagers estimate that the foundation of the bridge has been weakened due to the large amount of sand being removed from the river, due to which such a large bridge collapsed in two from the middle. The accident occurred due to lack of sufficient sand as a base in the foundation of the bridge's pillar and the river's water level rising due to the Yas storm. Villagers say that despite their constant demand, no one has taken any step in the direction of stopping illegal sand mining.
