Former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi made a tweet on Friday from his official Twitter handle demanding extension of the tenure of Panchayat representatives by 6 months. The tenure of about 2.58 lakh panchayat representatives in Bihar will end on June 15.

In the midst of the Corona crisis, it is not possible to conduct the Panchayat elections in Bihar on time. After the expiry of the tenure of the Panchayat representatives, till the elections are held and new public representatives do not come, they have demanded to extend it.

Patliputra MP Ramkripal Yadav wrote in his letter, 'Due to the Corona epidemic, Bihar Panchayat Election 2021 has reached a position of postponement for the time being. He further wrote that most of the schemes of the Central Government and the State Government, which are related to the development of Panchayats, are also facing administrative crisis in their implementation.
