Air India's flight on Thursday was a strange incident. After receiving the bats on the flight, the pilot returned the aircraft via a midway. It took off from Delhi. After informing the Air Traffic Control (ATC), the pilot decided to take the plane back.

This Air India flight was going to Newark (EWR). It flew from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport at 2.20 am on its scheduled time. After spending 30 minutes in the air, one of the bats was spotted on the flight. After this the flight captain decided to take the plane back.

Air India officials told news agency ANI, "The aircraft number AI-105 DEL-EWR was brought back shortly after the departure. Crew members found a bat in the cabin. The wildlife staff was asked to remove it from the cabin. The aircraft made a safe return to Delhi base at 3.55 am.

DGCA officials said fumigation was carried out when the aircraft returned and the dead bats were ejected from it. Meanwhile, sources said that the engineering team has been asked to prepare a detailed report on the matter.

Air India's engineering team has submitted its preliminary report. It states that these bats may have come from loading vehicles such as catering.

On returning back to Delhi, the passengers were shifted to another aircraft. The Air India flight (AI-105) made its landing in Newark at 11.35 am local time.
